According to Ayurveda, during pregnancy, everything that the mother-to-be touches, smells, tastes, hears and sees has an imprinting influence on the foetus. Her actions not only form various health and physiological features of the future baby, but blueprint and dwell with the unborn human for their whole life which influences their health, even through old age. Therefore, it is only safe for me to treat you
after the first trimester and not after the eighth month. When I do, I do so with loving intention, light touch and not directly on the belly. I would also encourage you and be honored to teach and guide you, to learn Self Abhyanga so that you can reap its many rewards.

PREGNANCY ABHYANGA

This traditional Ayurveda oleation is given with warming organic black seed sesame oil or with cooling organic coconut oil. Starting in a seated position for grounding and head massage and then moving into a comfortable position  with as many props as need, with long repetitive, sweeping strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints. Abhyanga for pregnancy is much gentler and only appropriate after 1st trimester and not after 8th month. I do not massage the belly but encourage you to do so and happily teach Self Abhyanga for home practice. This treatment relieves aches/muscle fatigue and can reduce anxiety, improve sleep as well as improves blood circulation, reduce swelling and aid lymphatic drainage. Consistent application of nourishing oils (Self Abhyanga) improves skin elasticity which helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
